Expertise and Capabilities

Technical Consulting
Think of me as a matchmaker for ideas and fabrication processes. Like Google Maps for building stuff. Together we may not have to wander the studio alone.

Metal Fabrication
Designing for metal is probably my favorite so if you think metal may be the right approach for your project then you are in luck! I have CNC machines in house and use them to prototype processes for complex ideas.

Kinetic Machines
I love seeing things move. Perhaps it’s because I love to dance. If you have an idea that requires movement or animation, we should talk. I think machines can be a great way to visualize complex ideas.

Carpentry
I have a close relationship with all trees, dead or alive, and I like to climb them in my spare time. I’m well-versed at integrating traditional woodworking techniques into art work of all scales.

3D Design / Printing / Scanning
We live in a “phygital” world and I am a phygital girl. I love to use the best of both old school sculpting and modern 3D modeling. I’m currently excited about 3D scanning natural objects like rocks and trees for mock-ups.

Multi-media Integration
I’m always excited to hear what new technology you’re excited about using in your project and which ones you want to stay the fuck away from. It’s hard to avoid the hype.

Costume / Sewing / Textiles
I cut my teeth on wearables with some advanced engineering features. I’m not saying I’m your #1 tailor, but I know how to make a costume and I have some friends with serious sewing skills.

About me, Nick.

During my time at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, I acquired skills in working with metal and developed a keen interest in sculpture and technological critique. Subsequently, I had the honor of leading a Design/Build studio with teens at the non-profit organization Artists for Humanity in Boston for a rewarding 8-year period. Following that chapter, I relocated to southern California to become part of the inaugural class of the Art and Technology MFA program at the California Institute of the Arts.
Post my MFA, I had the extraordinary opportunity to hitch a ride with Fitch-Trecartin Studio and contribute to the realization of large-scale projects in several countries. Since then, I have been fortunate to establish myself as an independent fabricator and consultant, working with numerous artists in the Los Angeles area and beyond.
